Cuyahoga County has released its 2012 Storefront Renovation Program. Projects can be up to $38,000 with a 30% rebate upon project completion of $11,400. Property owners and tenants can apply through the City of Shaker Heights Economic Development Department to make exterior improvements to their storefronts. Examples include:
Franchise and chain businesses are not eligible. Projects can be approved through the end of 2012, if funds are remaining, with project completion in 2013.
Shaker LaunchHouse invests up to $15,000 in early stage technology companies in return for an equity stake in the company. It is also a Federal Small Business Assistance Center through a partnership with Cleveland State University, offering small business coaching to all. Finally the shared entrepreneurial space can be utilized for $100/month.
Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses at Cuyahoga Community College is a practical business management education program that helps you develop the skills you need to grow your company. If you are selected to participate, you also will receive a series of one-on-one business advising sessions from dedicated professionals to help develop a tailored plan for growth.
The Economic Community Development Institute is partnering with the City of Shaker Heights to extend our Ignition microfinance fund to fund small business working capital and marketing needs.
The City of Shaker Heights is a member of the Heights Hillcrest Regional Chamber of Commerce (HRCC). Membership benefits include networking events, professional development, health insurance, business referrals, energy savings and discounted office supplies. Members of the HRCC are also eligible to be affiliate members of the Council of Smaller Enterprises (COSE).
